Carpet Care
Daily. Vacuum
your carpet frequently to
remove particles that can get ground into and damage the fiber.
High traffic areas may require daily vacuuming and other areas may
only need weekly cleaning. Strategically-placed entrance throw rugs,
mats or runners can reduce the amount of soil that enters the carpet
in the first place.
Monthly. A
good rule for steam cleaning is
every 15 months depending on use. Spot cleaning of heavy-wear areas
can help maintain the overall appearance of your carpet.
Stains. No
carpet is totally stain proof. Most carpets are treated with stain-resistant
treatment, but immediate clean up is essential. Absorb as much as
possible quickly with paper towels. Do not scrub the carpet, but
dab and blot.
Beware of frozen fruit bars, liquid medication,
colored powdered drinks and other substances that contain dyes that
are very difficult to remove. Household cleaners like bleach, mildew
removers, toilet bowl cleaners and drain cleaners as well as insecticides,
plant fertilizers, and mustard with turmeric remove the carpet dye
or cause permanent discoloration. Keep these products away from
your carpets.
